Death Mage
Story Outline – 06/12/03
ATEN is rallying the people of Rue to revolt against the Kingdom of Ra.

KING LUKRIZ is talking to the council of Ra and discussing the future of the kingdom. During this conversation, the Council, tells the king of the prophecy of the mage. The prophecy states that the wizard race of Rue will be restored and ruled by 4 powerful mages. After hearing this, he orders a decree throughout the land of RA that all the mages of Rue be banished from the kingdom of Ra.

MANTIS and ATIDA are demonstrating outside of the rally, asking the people of Rue to consider peace with the Kingdom instead of violence. They persuade the people to stand down and not fight against the Kingdom of Ra.
ATEN learns of their deeds and makes a personal decree to himself to destroy them.

1 WEEK LATER
KING LUKRIZ request’s that ATEN comes to his palace to discuss the current turmoil between the People of Ra and the People of Rue.

ATEN goes to the King, and the King offers him a position as head mage in exchange for him squelching the revolt against the kingdom of Ra. ATEN accepts and squelches his movement.
ATEN decrees the that people of Rue are to leave in Peace with the Kingdom of RA

1 YEAR LATER
KING LUKRIZ tells ATEN about the prophecy of the Death Mage; they hold a secret meeting with the council and agree to banish the people of Ra in order to protect KING LUKRIZ. QUEEN JANIERA executes the banishment.

2 WEEKS LATER
MIN and ATAI are celebrating their first birthday with their parents, MANTIS and ATIDA.
X X X
QUEEN JANIERA and her legion of troops go house to house displacing the people of Rue. Any person that opposes them loses his or her life and their children also die as well.
There is mad hysteria in the village of Rue; people are running and screaming, and buildings are set on fire by the troops of QUEEN JANIERA.

JOTEN goes to MANTIS and ATIDA to warn them of QUEEN JANIERA. MANTIS and ATIDA quickly gather their things and attempt to leave their residence.
QUEEN JANIERA breaks down the front door and MANTIS, ATIDA and JOTEN attempt to battle the queen and her troops. ATEN and two other mages step in and quickly disperse MANTIS, ATIDA and JOTEN. QUEEN JANIERA notices their twin children and tries to take them with her, the kids attempt to fight her back but are also beaten by ATEN. MANTIS tries to fight the mages once again but is nearly killed by ATEN. ATIDA picks up his body and looks at her children one more time and leaves with JOTEN.
QUEEN JANIERA leaves the village with MIN and ATAI and the rest of her troops.

THE NEXT DAY
The people of Rue leave in droves out of the kingdom of Ra. As they leave, their village is smoking in the background
JOTEN instructs the people of Rue to be calm and to be patient and assures them that they will find a land to settle in soon.
MANTIS slowly awakens in the arms of ATIDA who tells him of what happened and that their children were killed in battle with QUEEN JANIERA.
JOTEN consoles MANTIS and ATIDA.
A haggler comes from the crowd and blames MANTIS and ATIDA for the banishment, citing the fact they wanted peace instead of war of against the Kingdom of Ra.
When the people of Rue begin to request the death of MANTIS and ATIDA, a mob begins to swarm them. JOTEN tries to protect them but the mob pushes him aside. MANTIS and ATIDA’s eyes light with fire and they begin to fight the mob. They kill about 10 people until JOTEN creates a barrier to protect the mob.
As MANTIS and ATIDA begin floating slowly into the sky, the people of Rue are now intimidated by the pair. JOTEN asks them to stay but MANTIS and ATIDA say they will go in silence to mourn the loss of their children and will never see the people of Rue again. They both fly into the sky….

20 YEARS LATER
MIN and ATAI are before the court of Ra and are bestowed the titles of Generals of the Army of Ra. KING LUKRIZ congratulates them with further expanding the kingdom of Ra. There is a big celebration for the twins. The twins stand up and both give a speech and quickly leave. MIN asks ATAI if she ever has the feeling that they were missing something, ATAI says yes.

JOTEN is before the council of Rue discussing the current state of affairs of their land and beyond. He mentions to the council that he is in fear of an immanent attack against the Republic of Rue. The council disregards his warnings and asks him to prepare for the festival of Rue instead.

MIN and ATAI are in the palace courtyard talking. ATAI asks MIN if he wants to venture into the forbidden zone. MIN reluctantly agrees. The two set off for the forbidden zone.
When MIN and ATAI arrive, they are horrified at the conditions of the village. They walk to the village square, and they see RATH, an elderly woman sitting by herself in the middle of the grass. She is singing a song, “The Death Mage will free us…” The twins inquire about who the Death Mage is, and he replies “YOU!” They are both startled and jump back from the woman with their swords drawn; however, the woman does nothing; she just continues too sing her song.
ATAI tells MIN she feels at home in this place for some strange reason, and MIN says he feels the same. They both leave the Forbidden Zone.

ATEN and KING LUKRIZ are awaiting the return of the twins. The twins finally arrive, and KING LUKRIZ blasts them for going to the Forbidden Zone. The twins listen and go to bed.
MIN is having a nightmare and begins shooting bolts of lighting out of his hands. ATAI suddenly awakes and quickly wakes up MIN. She asks him what is wrong, and he tells her his story of how he can make lighting come from his hands. ATAI warns him not to tell anyone because magic is forbidden in the kingdom. She suggests they go sneak into the palace archives to read about magic. MIN agrees.
MIN and ATAI find a book entitled The Magical History of Ra. They open it and begin reading about the people of Rue, a race of wizards who once lived in peace with the people of Ra. They also read a passage about MANTIS and ATIDA; they look at their pictures and are astonished because the two look like them. Under their picture, the caption reads “The Death Mages”.
ATEN slowly creeps behind them and asks who gave them authorization to come into the archives. ATAI tries to hide the book but ATEN knocks her down and takes the book. MIN and ATAI attack ATEN. ATEN summons his spiritual (Midnight) and tries to attack the twins. The twins dodge the attack and become enraged, and their eyes become lit with fire, they both attempt to kill ATEN, but ATEN defeats them quickly, and they are taken before the king.

LT. GENERAL DRAKKEN gets a report from one of his scouts that there is a small town ahead about 3 kilometers. DRAKKEN and his small team of scouts go the town.
As DRAKKEN and his party approach the town, DRAKKEN sees fire come from the sky and tells the troops to halt. The troops draw their weapons, but DRAKKEN tells them to stand down. He says, “After 20 years, we have found the people of Rue. We must go to the king at once.”

MIN and ATAI are before KING LUKRIZ. He gives them a long speech about the severity of their actions. He sentences the twins to three days in the Forbidden Zone. He also strips them of their titles and rank in the Kingdom of Ra.
ATEN escorts the twins in chains of fire to the Forbidden Zone. As they are escorted he talks about the stuff they read in the archives. He tells them that MANTIS and ATIDA are dead, and the people of Rue are an evil sect called The Death Mage. He promises them that the next time they disrespect the king they will die.
MIN and ATAI arrive in the forbidden zone. MIN starts crying and apologizes to ATAI for the trouble he has got her in. ATAI tells him it is all right and she begins crying. MIN looks up and notices that ATAI’s tears are flames. He slides away from her, and she sees a little lightning bolt falling from his eye. The twins look at each other perplexed and confused.
RATH comes up to them singing her song “Death Mage, please free us, Death Mage do not leave us.” She stops singing, and asks them what is wrong?
Suddenly, the people of the Forbidden Zone come out of the woodwork, and start surrounding the twins, chanting “Death Mage please free us; Death Mage do not leave us.”
MIN and ATAI are afraid and are in a defensive mode ready to attack.
RATH quiets the crowd and tells MIN and ATAI not to be afraid and that they are family.
MIN and ATAI stand down and embrace RATH and the rest of the crowd. MIN whisper to ATAI, for the first time I feel at home ATAI…

LT. DRAKKEN tells KING LUKRIZ that they have found wizards of Rue. KING LUKRIZ orders a meeting of the council at once to discuss the extermination of the entire race of Rue.

The council convenes, and KING LUKRIZ requests permission to mount an army to destroy the race of Rue. The council agrees, but ATEN interrupts. ATEN tells the council that the best way to defeat the race and the prophecy of Rue is with a wizard from the Rue. ATEN tells them instead of sending a whole army that will be defeated by the sorcery of the Rue alone. KING LUKRIZ agrees and draws up a plan to send MIN and ATAI to destroy the Rue.

MIN and ATAI are playing with RATH’s children when one child suddenly falls and breaks his leg. MIN goes over to him and places his hand on his leg and begins to heal the boy. The other children are amazed at what MIN did; he tells them that this battle secret he used to heal soldiers.
One of the older kids says, “Min, you are a Death Mage, a wizard of Rue, not a warrior.”
RATH is standing in the front door of her house in amazement at what she just saw, and she looks up to the sky and says to herself, “JOTEN, my love if you could be here to see the rebirth of the Rue…”

The Republic of Rue is starting its first day of the “Cry of the Mage’s”. The day opens with a play depicting the banishment of the Rue from the land of Ra.
JOTEN is watching with a heavy heart, however, for he feels something dangerous upon the republic…

MIN and ATAI are surrounded by the people of the Forbidden Zone, laughing and talking. Suddenly, they start disappearing into the shadows.
RATH tells the twins to be strong and of good courage.
MIN and ATAI promise her that they will free the people of the forbidden zone.
RATH asks them to remember one thing, “You are Rue.”
She fades into the shadows of the Forbidden Zone.

KING LUKRIZ enters the Forbidden Zone and is astonished at the conditions of the twins.
ATEN asks, “Your highness, I thought they were supposed to be near death?”
KING LUKRIZ replies “I thought the same.” They interrogate the twins, but the twins do not remember anything that happened to them.

The twins are before the council of Ra and KING LUKRIZ. The king tells them they can vindicate themselves by going on a secret mission to protect the king of Ra. He tells them the mission is to destroy a group of soldiers who are banning against the kingdom of Ra.
The twins who are dedicated to the kingdom of Ra unknowingly accept the mission before the council.
ATEN with an evil look on his face says, “Thank you, twins. You have served the council and the kingdom of Ra well. You can go now.”
The twins leave the council meeting.
After they leave, KING LUKRIZ says, “After they destroy the Rue, we will kill the twins as well.”
Everyone in the room laughs maniacally and agrees.

The festival of Rue continues.
JOTEN goes before matriarch EMPERA and requests that the festival be stopped for fear of an attack from the kingdom of Ra. She denies his request and tells him not to worry, that everything is fine.

The twins move at a rapid rate to the Republic of Rue.
X X X
JOTEN passes out during the festival, and EMPERA stops the current festival activity to check on JOTEN.
JOTEN awakens a few hours later to tell her that a dark force was upon the land of Rue and that the village better be prepared for the wrath that is coming. The village people scoff at JOTEN and continue the festivities.

As MIN and ATAI are approaching the outskirts of the Republic of Rue, they prepare their weapons and look into each others eyes with a queasy feeling about what is going on.

JOTEN runs around the festival pleading with the people of the Republic to prepare for disaster. The crowd continues dancing, and a mob swarms JOTEN and knocks him out.

MIN and ATAI move stealthily in the Republic of Rue. As they reach the guard post, they notice that no one is guarding the gate. They think they are being ambushed, so they draw their weapons to prepare for an attack. As they enter the gates,
they see people dancing and singing.
MIN tells ATAI that they have the wrong city. ATAI assures him that they are in the right place. Suddenly, ATEN’s mind spell takes control of them, and they move forward into the city to slaughter the Rue.
The people of Rue stop dancing when a little girl screams aloud. They all turn around and see MIN and ATAI.
A group of men try to kill MIN and ATAI, but they are quickly disposed of.
Someone screams, “The Death Mage’s are here to destroy us!” the crowd quickly disperses except a few more people who try to defeat the twins.
JOTEN awakes, and finds the festival in chaos. He looks up and sees MANTIS and ATIDA killing the people of Rue.
JOTEN screams, “MANTIS and ATIDA!!! WHY ARE YOU KILLING YOUR OWN PEOPLE?”
The twins turn around and stare at JOTEN. MIN’s eyes fill with lightening, and ATAI’s eyes fill with fire. Suddenly, MIN’s hands turn into lightening, and ATAI’s turn into fire.
MATRIARCH EMPERA says to herself, “MANTIS and ATIDA have come to kill us all”
The Twins fly at JOTEN. JOTEN dodges their attacks and summons his spirital (Wrath) and quickly kills the twins.
JOTEN says to himself, “This was too easy. This cannot be MANTIS and ATIDA.” but he is confused because the two people he just slaughtered have the face of MANTIS and ATIDA.
JOTEN calls out to the people of Rue to bind their energies together to bring the two people back to life.
MATRIACH EMPERA flatly denies the request, but JOTEN pleads with her, saying that he will protect the people of Rue from this danger.
The matriarch reluctantly accepts the request and orders the people of Rue to bind their energies together.
JOTEN looks up to the sky and says, “MANTIS and ATIDA, why do you wish to destroy us?”

A tall man and a tall woman are walking side by side on a river, singing to each other.
MANTIS asks ATIDA, “ATIDA, how long must we stay away from the Rue; we have been in exile for 20 years.”
ATIDA says, “MANTIS, we said we will never go back”
Suddenly, a faint voice comes from the sky, “MANTIS and ATIDA why do you wish to destroy us?”
They both recognize the voice as JOTEN.
They start kissing each other, and then, they fly into the sky…

The twins awaken levitating inside a magical force field inside the house of JOTEN.
JOTEN asks, “MANTIS and ATIDA, why do you try to kill us?”
The twins answer, “We are MIN and ATAI children of KING LUKRIZ.”
JOTEN suddenly realizes that they are telling the truth, and asks the twins could he probe their minds.
The twins reluctantly agree, and JOTEN begins his mind probe.
JOTEN first sees images of KING LUKRIZ. Then he sees ATEN. As he probes further, the twins begin shaking violently. He continues the probe because he is determined to know who they are.
He sees further images of emotional and physical torture. Then, he sees an image of the village of Rue.
He sees two young children playing with each other in a room. The image quickly turns dark and hazy. Then he sees the face of ATIDA and himself, the day they were leaving the Kingdom of Ra.
JOTEN stops the probe and slumps in his chair, shocked.
JOTEN removes the spell of ATEN from the twins’ minds and frees them.
JOTEN starts crying, they ask him what is wrong?
He says in tears “The restoration of the Rue…”

KING LUKRIZ and the council are holding a meeting discussing the current state of the twins. ATEN suggests that the twins may have gotten lost. He requests that they send a search party for another 5 days. The king agrees.

The twins tell JOTEN of their background and how they are the loyal protectors of the kingdom of Ra.
JOTEN tells them that they were separated from their parents when they were one year old.
MATRIACH EMPERA comes into the house.
The twins tell JOTEN that they must leave because they are to report back to the king.
JOTEN pleads for them to stay, saying the king will kill them if they return, but the twins decide to leave anyway.
As they leave from JOTEN’s house, they apologize to MATRIACH EMPERA and tell her and JOTEN that the King of Ra will spare the Rue.
The twins also make a public apology to the people of Rue and to the council. Afterwards, they then bid farewell and leave.
MATRIARCH EMPEREA tells JOTEN that she is sorry about not listening to him. He does not respond but just stares blankly at the twins as they leave. MATRIARCH EMPREA asks what is wrong and he says “The hope of the Rue is going to be destroyed, MANTIS and ATIDA are dead and so shall their children when they go back to the king of Ra”

ATEN is in his study reading when he senses a great and powerful force. He drops his cup of wine with a look of horror….

The next day, JOTEN is before the council of Rue once again discussing with them the fate of the Republic. A councilwoman scoffs at him saying “JOTEN, you believe the Death Mages will save us right?” JOTEN humbly replies, “Yes”, and another councilman says, “I guess we will wait for the return of MANTIS and ATIDA, the saviors of JOTEN, but the same Death Mages who tried to kill their people!”
Suddenly, the council room starts vibrating and shaking, and out of the sky come two figures at the front door of the council hall.
The council members gasp with fear as the two figures enter the hall.
“JOTEN, you requested our presence,” says ATIDA
JOTEN’s face is filled with disbelief and he says, “I did not call you.”
MANTIS tells the council to ease up and that they are not here to hurt anyone.
EMPERA tells MANTIS and ATIDA the story of the attack of Rue.
JOTEN interrupts by saying, “MANTIS, it was MIN and ATAI”
ATIDA screams.
MANTIS’s eyes begin filling with lava, and ATIDA’s EYES fill with blue lightening.
JOTEN stands back because he thinks they are going to attack.
MANTIS and ATIDA look at the council and say “We are going to free our children; your matters with Ra are none of our concern. We are no longer citizens of Rue.”
The couple leaves the hall and flies into the sky
JOTEN, with a look of sadness says, “The Rue will be destroyed without the protection of the Death Mage…”

MIN and ATAI report to the king.
ATEN asks them what happened during the mission
The twins answer that they did not kill the people of Rue, for they cannot kill their own people.
The king is angry and orders their death.
The twins try to fight the KING, but he defeats them with magic. Everyone in the room is astonished.
The twins realize that the KING is also Rue…

The Twins are hanging above a pool of lava unconsciousness.
KING LUKRIZ is standing before the court of Ra, listing the charges of the mages.
Suddenly, out of the sky fly MANTIS and ATIDA.
ATEN summons his spirital (midnight) and attempts to fight the two mages.
ATEN is defeated, and MANTIS frees the twins.
MANTIS summons (Dragon Moon), and ATIDA summons (Dragon Sun), their spirituals.
MANTIS tells the king of Ra, “The Rue will be restored.”
MANTIS and ATIDA fly off into the sky with the twins.

MIN and ATAI awake in the sky in the arms of two people.
MIN asks, “Who are you?”
ATIDA replies, “We are MANTIS and ATIDA your mother and father”
ATAI smiles
