Log line: After spending a year in juvenile prison for his second felony, aggravated battery, a teen returns home on probation with the genuine intention of reforming; however, he encounters the same insurmountable obstacles of poverty, class warfare, and drug addiction. His mother’s death from a drug overdose evokes an act of retributive justice, as he attempts to kill the dealer who sold her them. Convicted as an adult and sentenced to life in prison where he becomes depressed, bitter, and suicidal, he languishes in prison until a failed suicide attempt lands him in a state mental hospital where a sympathetic, caring doctor helps him find his true identity and prepares him for his future as a reformed adult and father.
Character Outlines:
Ángel Rodriquez – Late 20’s, an ex-con. Ángel once a teenager of violence is now a man of compassion, who is struggling with the ineffable question of “Who am I.” Ángel is intelligent, and very quiet but still deals with rage from his past. He constantly helps people as atonement for the sins of his past.
Raquel Timmerman – Late 20’s, lawyer. Raquel is intelligent, naïve and very emotional. An ex-girlfriend of Ángel, Raquel is about to marry Eddie Newman until a certain Angel comes back from her past.
Eddie Newman – Late 20’s. Engaged to Raquel, Eddie is a man of insecurities who is bent on convincing his fiancee that he is better than her ex teenage boyfriend. He is an average kind of guy, but purports himself as an intellectual.
Rosemary Rodriquez – Early 40’s. Mother of Ángel. An average lady, Rosemary struggles with drug addiction and raising her teenage son. She is a woman caught in the past who still thinks she is 17. Emotionally her mind and heart reside on the boulevard of broken dreams.
Yvette Timmerman - Early 40’s, Lawyer. Mother of Raquel, Wife of Adam Timmerman. Yvette on the surface is a hardworking mother who loves her children. Inside she is a woman scared from abuse by her father.
Adam Timmerman – Early 40’s, Lawyer. Father of Raquel, Husband of Yvette Timmerman. Adam is a hardworking man who tries to provide the very best for his daughter. His life is turned upside down when he meets a teenage boy from the wrong side of the tracks.
Jacob Lopez – Late 20’s. Drug user and alcoholic. Jacob was once a mid level drug dealer in his teenage years but after his coma he became a crack user. Jacob’s life changes once he gets a visit from the Angel of Death.
